We have seen so many deals or transactions involving expensive resources and costs going nowhere because something went wrong in the process and no one saw it! So many bid teams are running on empty and start to make mistake in the design, the coordination, the pricing, the presentation, the team dynamic or simply the relationship with the client. We help bid teams to revisit the overall process and to identify obvious improvements that can help the deal to progress towards the close. We have develop within our CoachWare© the Sales Academy where we help the client bid team to improve their processes step by step. We approach executives’ business challenges with our 3 legs of a stool model: the “go to market” model, the “operating” model and the overall “communication and values” model.
In many cases, partnership is needed and relationship evolves into specific vehicles such as PPP or PFI or framework agreement. In all these structures, the relationship between the various members is critical for the success of the transaction. It may be needed to have an external facilitator interviewing the participant along the formation of the structure to avoid obvious mistakes. It may also be interesting to use an external mediator through the life cycle of the project in case little conflicts or frustrations reduce the overall performance.
In many complex transactions, the teams involved will quickly need to be aligned around common objectives, will need to buy into a set of priorities, a set of values and the day to day life of the contract may well look different than the one described on the contract. We have been involved in helping the formation of a virtual team, blending the cultures, the style, the personal agenda and the collective agenda. Organising seminars with both teams of accountable people is often the right approach and building a common scope and code of behaviour a classic session. Being neutral, out of the chain of command helps a lot in this mediation-advisory role.
